In the spotlight: Postgraduate study at Richmond

Postgraduate study at Richmond is innovative, exciting, and aims to boost our students’ careers. No matter which subject area a prospective student may have in mind, all programmes offer a number of key features. Postgraduate students study at our Kensington campus in London, providing easy access to the Capital’s arts, cultural, political, media and business sectors. Students can complete their studies in one year including participation in an integrated internship in locations such as the UK, China and the US. Richmond alumni and their families wishing to pursue their Masters have access to the Alumni Scholarship of £1,000 towards tuition. In addition, Richmond is offering four scholarships at 50% off tuition for academically strong candidates.

In the current and the next editions of this e-newsletter, we’ll take a closer look at Richmond’s current postgraduate programmes and catch-up with faculty involved. Our first spotlight will be cast on the recently re-launched Richmond MBA and the brand new MA in Advertising and Public Relations.

The Richmond MBA

Parviz Dabir AlaiThe University re-introduced the MBA programme last year after a gap of about 10 years. “Although we only had very little time to promote the course before the start of the academic year last September, we still managed to attract 9 very good British and international students who are all currently busy with their various activities on the programme,” explained Dr. Parviz Dabir-Alai, Dean of the School of Business & Economics.

Since September 2013, faculty in the School of Business and Economics have been working hard to continue to improve the MBA. Dr. Dabir-Alai said, “For example, from September 2014 it will be possible to secure either a 'General MBA' or take one of several specialisms in 'Entrepreneurship', 'Leadership & Strategy' or 'Global Marketing' in order to take a more tailor-made approach to completing the programme.”

However, additions to the courses taught don’t stop there. The School has also introduced several other new programmes at the undergraduate level, including BA programmes in Financial Economics, International & Development Economics, and also in Entrepreneurship. From September 2014 there will also be a new BA degree programme in Fashion Management & Marketing.
