Update from the President

Dear alumni and friends,

We are living in challenging times and I hope that you and your family are well. It is in such times that we need to recognise the importance of our common humanity regardless of national, cultural, religious and individual differences. This is the meaning of the experience of having lived and studied at Richmond University. Our motto ‘unity in diversity’ becomes even more meaningful in the world we are now living in.

I am delighted to announce that the Sir Cyril Taylor Charitable Foundation is giving the University a £10 million endowment to ensure the financial sustainability of the University at a time of enormous challenges and competition for higher education in the UK and the USA. We do not have a significant property portfolio as a financial reserve so £9 million will be kept as a cash reserve to enable the University to meet the requirements of both USA and UK student funding agencies and regulatory bodies. The Trustees of the University will work with the Executive to ensure that this generous resource is managed and invested wisely so that we have a stronger basis for achieving all our strategic goals over the coming three years. I am sure that you will join me in thanking Sir Cyril Taylor for his considerable generosity and continuing passion and support for Richmond as an international university which promotes the ideals of ‘unity in diversity’.

Best Wishes, John Annette, President
