Update from the President
Dear Alumni,

We are facing challenging times in terms of the overall political scene and in terms of student recruitment. I am pleased to say that we met our student targets this September and January, but we are working hard to overcome the general decline in student recruitment facing US and UK universities. Partly this is due to a slight demographic downturn here in the UK and a much steeper decline in the USA. We face the possibility that the UK’s decision to leave the European Union will have an impact on our recruitment of European students.

We are looking to offer International and USA students more scholarships but we have limited resources to do this. I would ask Alumni to make a contribution to our alumni fund to assist with the funding of scholarships. A more substantial donation will allow us to offer a named scholarship either for an individual or family name or for a graduating class. Contributions however small or large will assist us greatly in continuing to attract well qualified entrants to the University from all over the world.

The University is beginning to develop a range of professionally based MA degrees, which all include internships for our students. More recent MA degrees are MAs in Advertising and Public Relations, Public Relations and Journalism and Visual Arts Management and Curating. We are in the process of validating MAs in Luxury Brand Management, International Business Law and International Sports Management.  This widens our academic portfolio and also reflects our commitment to increase the number of faculty who are research active and who are committed to quality teaching.

We are beginning to diversify our academic portfolio by developing a new International Summer School open to not only our degree students and US study abroad students, but also to students from all around the world who might want to study for three or six weeks in London. We will also be offering this summer a Pre-Sessional English Language Programme for our international students who might not have the required English language qualification needed for admission and also for other international students who would benefit for a six week intensive programme. All of these programmes will be offered at the Kensington Campus.

Keep in touch with the Alumni Office as we plan alumni events in Dubai and also New York City and also an autumn event here in London.

Your Sincerely,

John Annette, President & Vice Chancellor
