Richmond's 40th Anniversary

Alumni around the globe celebrated the University's first 40 years

The University’s 40th anniversary celebrations in 2012 were a great opportunity for our community to come together and look at current and past achievements, make plans for the future and benefit from the vibrant global network of advocacy and support that is Richmond.

During the course of the anniversary year, the President along with faculty and staff met with over 300 alumni, friends, and prospective students and their parents at events in Richmond, London, New York City, Mumbai and Istanbul. The Anniversary Homecoming Weekend on the Hill campus brought together 120 former and current students, faculty and staff and saw, amongst many other exciting events, the inaugural conferment of honorary fellowships on Prof Wolfgang Deckers and Prof Michele Cohen.

There was an Anniversary lecture series for current students, alumni and members of the public as well as a number of events aimed at building links with the local community. Over 240 visitors discovered Richmond’s beautiful campus during the University’s first participation in the Open House London in September 2012; and close to 200 attendees enjoyed a reading by author Simon Hoggart as part of the Richmond Literature Festival and the launch of Richmond University Press.

Twelve months on, in 2013, Richmond alumni are again invited to submit contributions to the second publication of Richmond University Press entitled From Here to There. If you’d like to join in here are all the details you need.
